Illinois at Wisconsin
UW -26, Over/Under 57.5
Illinois struggled to score points even with Wes Lunt at quarterback and now he out. Wisconsin’s defense is 11th in the nation. Wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Illinois but up 10 or fewer points. So can Wisconsin score enough to cover? Well Illinois’ defense is 115th in the nation so they damn well better. Taking Wisconsin but doubling up with the under as well. 42-10 anyone?
Indiana at Iowa
UI -3.5, O/U 56
Stay away, stay away, stay away!!! These teams have been nearly impossible to bet this year. I suppose me and my fellow degenerates don’t like that advice though. Iowa feels the safer bet thanks to that rock solid defense. That would also make the extreme degenerates – the ISIS of gambling – want to put some cash down on the under, too.
Michigan vs Penn State
UM -1, O/U 41
The line keeps changing! It was 2 just a few minutes ago when I wrote the weekly preview. This one basically comes down to if you trust Michigan to put up points. A) enough to win and B) enough to cover (if the spread goes back up in the next 24 hours). This also feels like a stay away but since that wouldn’t make for a good gambling guide Penn State’s defense is in the top ten. As for the 29 Northwestern put up, 7 was from the defense and 7 more can be attributed to a very long special teams play. PSU is also 99th in the nation at scoring. So this looks like a whole lotta under if you ask me.
Michigan State at Purdue
MSU -21, O/U 51
MSU made us a fair amount of money by taking them and the over. That recipe didn’t work against Nebraska because of two goofy things…the weather and Nebraska’s insane comeback in the fourth. Let’s stick to basics. MSU covers and over baby. Don’t mess with a good thing.
Minnesota vs Northwestern
UM -4, O/U 43
I know Northwestern is the hot thing right now but Minnesota obliterated Michigan two weeks ago. I think we forgot about the Gophers because of the bye. I really like their ball-hawking defense and I’m still not 100% convinced Trevor Siemian can go against top flight defenses. As for the under, here are some figures for you…NU is 14th in defense, 103rd in points scored. Minnesota is 19th in defense, 78th in points scored. My spidey sense loves the scores 21-17 and 24-17. For our double-down we better hope it is 24-17, but let’s take the shot. After all, need to spend money to make money, right?
