2022: Week 9 Gambling Guide

Illinois at Nebraska

  • UI -7.5, Over/ Under 50.5

There is some upset potential in this one and highlighted that in the weekly preview but we have a dominate offensive line and a Heisman candidate in Chase Brown that could run wild on a struggling Nebraska defense. Despite the upset possibility, I’ll take Illinois to cover because I think they are about 10 points better as the two teams are currently performing.

Northwestern at Iowa

  • UI –11.0 , O/U 37.5

Taking the points and the under. Iowa’s offense hasn’t scored a touchdown in over two games. I know Northwestern is just 1-6 but this game has become Fitz’s super bowl because of personal hatred he has for Iowa. The Cats will play way above their expectations while Iowa will play down to theirs.

Michigan State at Michigan

  • UM -23.0, O/U 55.0

I don’t have a feel for how many points will be scored in this game since Michigan State has kind of been all over the place so I’m not playing the over, but I do like Michigan to win big. They might have to pull away late like they did against Iowa if Sparty is frisky, but ultimately I like Michigan to win by 24+.

Rutgers at Minnesota

  • UM -14.0, O/U 40.5

Minnesota’s offense has been dreadful as the injuries have piled up. It isn’t hyperbole to ask if they can even score 14 points against a good defense right now. I’ll take the points because RU should be able to hang in this one and the way these teams have looked the last few weeks, an upset isn’t even out of the question.

Ohio State at Penn State

  • OSU -15.5, O/U 62

Looking to double up from this game as I have Ohio State covering and this score going big. If Clifford is off, the PSU defense will probably shut it down and we will see the Buckeyes win big. If Penn State keeps it competitive it will be in a crazy shootout. I don’t really see a scenario where the game is like 24-21. That’s why I like the over. Taking Ohio State to cover though because they are clearly much better than Penn State.

Bye Week:

Indiana, Maryland, Purdue, Wisconsin

Lightning Round for Non-Readers:

Illinois/Nebraska – UI

Iowa/Northwestern – Points, Under

Michigan/Michigan State – UM

Minnesota/Rutgers – Points

Ohio State/Penn State – OSU, Over
