The following teams are off this week:
- Indiana
Illinois vs Minnesota
- UM -9.5, Over / Under 61.5
Who is going to win? No clue. Can Minnesota cover? No idea. Will Illinois cover? Haven’t the foggiest. But I can tell you this…both defenses are playing some ugly football right now. Take the over.
Iowa at Purdue
- PU -1.0, O/U 51.5
I know the Penn State game was ugly and zero points were scored by the offense but the Hawks were in a position to win against a much better team than Purdue and found ways to manufacture points. I believe they win this coin flip.
Maryland vs Michigan State
- MSU -3.5, O/U 43.0
Michigan State is a similar team to Iowa. Good defense overall, great rushing defense, and an offense that runs hot and cold. In the Maryland-Iowa game, the Hawks shut out UM and the score was quite low. I’ll play the same formula this week. MSU covers and the game goes under.
Michigan vs Penn State
- UM -13.0, O/U 49.5
After watching Penn State’s lucky victory over Iowa, I got the feeling that the Hawks blew that game more than Penn State actually beat them. Why does that matter? Well Michigan is more talented than Iowa and this year coached much better than Iowa. Michigan rolls.
Nebraska at Ohio State
- OSU -17.5, O/U 72
Wowza, I was all ready to talk about taking the over then Vegas puts out a number in the 70s. I know both defenses have had their struggles and both teams can put up points but for both of them to hit 35+ in an afternoon, in the Midwest, in November? That feels like too tall an order. I’ll go with the under then. For the record, also staying away from the spread. I know the Bucks are 0-4 against it in their last four games but they are too talented not to explode one of these weeks. I don’t want them exploding on Nebraska and costing us some money while I am well below .500 this season.
Northwestern vs Notre Dame
- ND -9.5, O/U 49.5
I think this plays out like the Michigan game. Northwestern keeps it close, covers, and keeps the score very low. Irish eek out a victory, but I’ll take the points and the under.
Rutgers at Wisconsin
- UW -29.0, O/U 52.5
I know Wisconsin’s struggles are well documented but I’m still a believer and think they get of the schneid this week against awful Rutgers. Vintage Badger beat-down in Madison.
