The following teams are off this week:
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Maryland
- Minnesota
- Wisconsin
Indiana at Rutgers
- IU -16.5, Over / Under 50.0
Hoosiers won this game 41-0 a season ago. Somehow Rutgers looks even worse than 2017’s club and Indiana looks better. Take the Hoosiers to cover, but that over/under scares me a little bit because RU won’t put up many points, do you trust Indiana to score half a hundred alone? Just take Indiana to cover.
Michigan at Northwestern
- UM -15.5, O/U 46.5
Northwestern has been a turnover machine with -2 against Duke and -3 against Akron resulting in their losses by 14 and 5 points. Wolverine D will be opportunistic and turn the Wildcats over just like Duke and the Zips did. Michigan covers and just like last week with the Wolverines, I think this game goes over, too. 38-10 was the score that popped into my head, fyi. Let’s see if that final is anywhere near that mark.
Michigan State vs Central Michigan
- MSU -28.5, O/U 47.0
Yes Central is 1-3 but they haven’t had any four plus touchdown defeats yet. Kentucky was by 15, Kansas was by 24, and Northern Illinois was by 8. MSU will win, but I get the feeling it will be in the 24 to 28 range. That half point is key as I will take the points.
Nebraska vs Purdue
- PU -3.0, O/U 58.5
With one lousy team and one up-and-down team I don’t know what to expect from the point total so that over/under feels like a sucker bet. Let’s play it safe and just take the road club to cover thanks to having an explosive offense going against a reeling Husker defensive unit.
Ohio State at Penn State
- OSU -3.5, O/U 68.5
Penn State is tops in the nation with 55.5 points per game. Ohio State is all the way down on that list at second in the nation with 54.5 points per game. Smart money is to take the over as both defenses have had some big play oopsies allowed so far and those offenses are clearly on fire. Now then, who will win? Well I’m going to be a real degenerate and take the points. Penn State beat this team two years ago. Penn State should have beaten them last year. I think Franklin has Meyer’s number a little. Factor in Dwayne Haskin’s first true road start of his career and…I’ve talked myself into it. Please don’t do what I do, public.
Lightning Round for Non-Readers:
Indiana/Rutgers – IU
Michigan/Northwestern – UM, Over
Michigan State/Central Michigan – Points
Nebraska/Purdue – PU
Ohio State/Penn State – Over, Points (Points are a degenerate pick)
