2017 Week 5 Gambling Guide

The following teams are off this week:

  • Michigan
  • Purdue

Indiana at Penn State

  • Penn State -19.0, Over / Under 63

If this game was in Bloomington, I would go with the same line of thinking as the Ohio State game but there are two issues with that.  First, Ohio State easily covered a few weeks ago and secondly the game is in State College.  Lions cover in a 21 point win.

Illinois vs Nebraska

  • Nebraska -5.5, O/U 47.5

Last time we saw these teams NU was struggling to knock off Rutgers at home and Illinois was getting smoked by USF.  With this much confusion, I’m going to avoid the over/under bet and just ride with the Huskers winning by at least a touchdown.

Iowa at Michigan State

  • MSU -4.0, O/U 43.5

The first good defense MSU faced this season resulted in 18 measly points and seeing Iowa’s defense against Penn State has me thinking this game goes low, quite low because Iowa wins 21-17 giving us an under bet and a points bet.

Maryland at Minnesota

  • Minnesota -12.5, O/U 43

UCF is a nice team and smoked a Kasim Hill-less Terps club.  Just too big of an injury for Maryland to overcome against a really good looking Gopher team.  Not only does Minnesota cover but they score about 35 points alone to reach the over.

Northwestern at Wisconsin

  • Wisconsin -16.5, O/U 48.5

Despite being the best game on paper, I’m still not sure NU is healthy enough to compete with Wisconsin.  After a tight first half, the Badgers blow the game open in the second half, covers, and helps the game go over.

Ohio State at Rutgers

  • OSU -30.0, O/U 52.5

Rutgers defense has been surprisingly frisky this year.  I think they do just barely enough to keep Ohio State within 30.  Remember, a 4 touchdown shelling is still only a 28 point margin of victory.
