What a game we had in Indianapolis. Pleased to say I was there, Indy is a fantastic town and as an Iowa fan, we played our hearts out. We didn’t shoot ourselves in the foot with something dumb and we didn’t let the refs decide it. Honestly, I don’t know how UNC fans slept Saturday night.
Team of the Week – Michigan State – A – The Spartan defense held Iowa’s vaunted rushing attack to just 2.2 yards per carry. A massive hit in the end zone caused a crazy bouncy interception that prevented Iowa from scoring loomed large in the final score of 16-13. Offensively they did what Dantonio does best…grind. They churned out an epic 22 play drive to win the game in the closing moments.
Iowa – A – The Hawks did everything right but came up just short. They found a way to move the ball even without a good day from the OL or the running game as C.J. Beathard averaged 8.3 yards per and had 216 for the day passing, including a gem to Tevaun Smith for an 85 yard score. The defense was amazing all day but a long third quarter left them with very little gas and we saw them come up just short on the long drive.
Gambling Report Card:
- Iowa vs Michigan State, MSU (-3.5), Under (51)
Earned the split as Iowa played their butts off and lost by just three points but the total score was only 29 points. As an Iowa fan, I would have gladly taken the split if it was flipped but the Rose Bowl ain’t nothing to sneeze at.
