The NCAA announced that effective immediately, as in a qualifying Penn State team would make a bowl this season, the post-season ban against the Nittany Lions has been lifted. This is huge news for the school and the league. For PSU it will make a tough recruiting sell a little easier now that the kids will be able to enjoy the post-season. For the league it means one of the marquee programs will be bowling again soon. Based on their impressive 2-0 start, it might be sooner rather than later.
Considering how bumbled the investigation has looked as the damning Freeh Report’s points have been picked apart combined with the NCAA’s lack of integrity going after other schools (Miami and North Carolina jump to mind) it isn’t surprising to see Penn State get a reprieve. Also helping the program is they have done an outstanding job complying with the other points the NCAA laid out.
